Umpires instructions
Umpire coordinators will allocate an umpire to each game as they appear on the Match Calendar. This is to allow a fair and rotated roster of all umpires.
If any team wishes to request an umpire they are more than welcome to when they book their match time on the bookings boards. It may not always be possible to accomodate the request due to numerous factors however reasonable efforts will be made.
We will try to give you 1 match to umpire per week, please inform the umpire co-ordinator if you are away or unable to umpire for any length of time. If you do not tell us you are unavailable, and do not reply to match assignment emails we will presume you are no longer interested in being an umpire and revoke your umpire status.
Pre Match
Check the booking thread of the match to see if there are any specific instructions from staff
Take note of the team codes playing and ensure they are entered correctly as a mistake here can take hours to fix later
Problems
If the server has a problem that you cannot fix, like mirroring of nicks use the #st stop to stop the match then use !emergencyrestartserver command to restart the chat server, NOTE: this will disconnect everyone from ALL rooms (in case Arena2 is in use) all bots will reconnect in a few mins. Then use #resume to continue the match
If the problem has taken a while to fix and too many questions have been missed, use the #dialback 90 command where 90 is the question number to resume the match from. Use this command at your own descretion however if only a few questions have been missed the #resume command should be sufficent.
During Match
There should be no need to talk to players, please keep all discussions to coaches only.
• It is not your responsibility to authenticate players grade or elligibility, someone else has been appointed this task.
• It is the coaches responsibility to unspec players, do not assist with this, if the coach moofs host them as soon as they return or host a team member to replace them.
• Determine who is coaching for each team and host any temporary or stand in coaches.
• Determine team number.
• Ask coaches if all team members are present and perhaps allow time for late arrivals (no more than 10 mins).
• Determine if both teams have at least 2 players in the room before the later of either '10 mins past booking time' mark or 10 mins after the last match has had its scores announced. Failure to do so is an automatic forfeit in favour of the team that has at least 2 players in the room. If neither team has 2 players it is recorded as a double loss with both teams receiving 1 point each for a loss. This is reported to staff for points adjustment and also posted on the results board
• Ask all non participating hosts to dehost, if they dont reply they may be away and you have the right to dehost them.
• Warn about putting room into spec mode.
• Use !matchmode command to spec room, to prepare for the match
• Set the Grade using command #grade C (for C grade) or #cleargrade to reset it
